Valemtime's Day
Happy Valentine's Day to you all. I hope you are someone's Valentine.
No, the title isn't misspelled. Rather, it is a tribute to my mom. This is how my mom you used to say it. And not only did she say Happy Valemtime's Day, she would change her voice and make it sound so innocent and child-like. It drove me absolutely nuts. I mean nuts to hear her say over and over Happy Valemtime's Day.
She loved this holiday. I think she liked it so much because she was such a loving woman. She loved giving chocolates to her favorite son (me)! She loved giving the cards that she had gone to the Hallmark Store, and studied until she found the right card for each of us.
She loved giving us the goofiest, but coolest little gifts that she found while shopping, or in a catalog, that you could never imagine buying, or owning, but cool because now you owned it.
And as the day approached, she would start saying:
"Valetime's Day is coming!"
And she did it in her innocent, child-like voice, with so much energy and happiness. And it drove me crazy, that she would say "Valemtime's" instead of Valentine's.
You never realize how much you will miss those annoying little things until they are gone.
So, everyone, in honor of my mom, "Happy Valemtime's Day" to you all.
